About
Rooted, Yet Ever Growing
Deborah Nzebele is not just about collections, but about cultivation. This namesake brand, like a plant, is rooted in Congolese heritage and British upbringing and continues to evolve organically with each capsule. Just as nature cycles through growth, decay, and regeneration, our process embraces reuse, adaptation, and renewal. Patterns are reinterpreted, silhouettes slowly evolve, and principles of heritage, sustainability, and elegance remain constant.
The result is a living archive: collections that bloom anew while always grounded in the brand’s forever mood - indigenous flora, botanical shapes, and the timeless elegance of La Sape.
General Information
Deborah Nzebele is a non seasonal , slow fashion brand creating ethical luxury clothing for the contemporary, expressive woman. As a brand we are committed to building a sustainable presence within the fashion industry; which is why most of our production is made in-house at our East London studio. As a statement against the wasteful fast fashion cycle, central to our brand is the release of our effortless , everyday pieces in irregular, non-seasonal drops. Sustainability
We are a small independent brand with sustainability and ethical production at our core. We understand here at Deborah Nzebele how important it is for us all to play a part in working towards a more sustainable fashion industry, consciously consider our environmental impact and constantly strive to implement more sustainable practices within our company. Here is what we are doing to achieve this :
Disposal/Waste
To combat waste and ensure the upkeep of quality in our clothing , all our garments are produced on a pre-order or made to order basis - we ask our customers to consider this before ordering to prevent returns and unloved pieces. We also do not inappropriately dispose of samples. Our mailers are compostable/ biodegradable and all other packaging accompanying your order is recyclable.
Please see our FAQs page for more information on orders and returns.
Ethics
We ensure that we are only working with socially ethical manufactures. The factories and studios that we work with are based in the UK and ensure workers have good working conditions as well as meet the UK National Minimum Wage.
Fabrics
To keep our company’s CO2 emissions to the minimum , we can ensure that approximately 80% of the materials used for our garments at Deborah Nzebele are sourced in the UK.
Some of our sample sale pieces will be made from deadstock fabric - the vast amounts of surplus textiles left over by factories or studios after a garment production run. By utilising deadstock fabric for our clothing , we are saving this useable material from ending up in landfill or being burned.
